Evaluation: Question 2) How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Representations:
The representations of characters are important as they give
the audience a better understanding of who they are and their role within the
film. Also the audience would know what to expect from the characters during
the thriller if they stick to stereotypes. Representations are further
important because they provide guidelines of what characters will be like in
the film.
My thriller represents particular social groups because of
things like age, themes and stereotypes. For example all the characters were within
the age groups of 16 – 18 years which was also the age groups of our target
audience and the certificate we gave to our film. Our themes involved love,
torture, friendship and death. These themes were more likely to be better
understood by the age groups that were portrayed as the audience could relate
to friendship and love.
